The Catering Chef is responsible for management and supervision of kitchen, catering and dining services.
The role is accountable for delivering high-quality nutritious meals and a positive dining experience for residents, while ensuring all services operate safely, efficiently, within budget and in accordance with aged care, food safety and organisational requirements.Key responsibilitiesOversee the daily operation and supervision of the commercial kitchen and dining servicesPrepare and cook meals in accordance with approved menus, recipes and dietary requirementsDevelop, implement and regularly review seasonal and rotating menus and ensure meals are prepared and served safely, consistently and on timeMaintain high standards of food quality, taste, presentation, portion control and service, ensure menus meet nutritional requirements and reflect resident preferences, cultural needs and dietary requirementsConsult with residents, families, dietitians, clinical staff and management regarding menu planning and dining servicesCoordinate texture-modified meals, allergies, intolerances, special diets and clinical nutrition requirementsOversee catering for special events, cultural celebrations, functions and themed dining experiencesProvide day-to-day management and supervision to cook, kitchen hands and all dining services employeesRecruit, induct,
train, mentor and support kitchen and dining staffMonitor key performance indicators, including resident satisfaction, food waste, budget performance, compliance and staffingAbout youCertificate IV in Kitchen Management or equivalent (Commercial Cookery)Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to obtainDemonstrated knowledge of food safety and HACCP principlesExperience in preparing meals in aged care, healthcare, hospitality or a similar environmentKnowledge of nutrition and hydration requirements for older peopleDemonstrated ability to work within budgets and manage stock effectivelyStrong communication and teamwork skillsDemonstrated commitment to person-centred care and resident wellbeingAbility to work independently and prioritise workloadUnderstanding of workplace health and safety requirementsAbout usThe Hellenic Community of WA's vision is to be the epicentre of Greek culture in Western Australia.
