Paxus is partnering with alarge Federal Government programto engage an experiencedSenior DevOps / Cloud Engineerto help modernise and operate critical cloud platforms and DevSecOps capabilities supporting enterprise data and analytics environments.
Contract duration: To 30 June **** + Up to 2 x 12 months
Location: Canberra (ACT)
Working arrangement: Hybrid – in office full-time for the first month (or until across the ICT landscape), then minimum 2 days/week on-site in Canberra
The opportunity
You'll work closely with delivery teams to provide and support secure, scalable environments that enable fast, reliable delivery throughautomation, self-service, and strong DevSecOps practices.
The work spansAzure and hybrid cloudplatforms, with a strong focus on infrastructure as code, CI/CD, cloud security controls, and operational excellence (monitoring, resilience, cost optimisation).
Key responsibilities
Design, build and supportsecure, scalable, resilientcloud infrastructure and platform services
Build and maintainAzure and hybridcloud environments aligned to standards
Develop and maintainInfrastructure as Code(Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or equivalent)
Design/implement/supportCI/CD pipelinesfor automated deployments (app + infrastructure)
EmbedDevSecOpscontrols across the delivery lifecycle (security, compliance, quality)
Optimise availability, performance, resilience andcost efficiency
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure/deployment/operations issues




Implement and remediate security controls aligned toAustralian Government security requirements (ISM/PSPF)
Vulnerability management, patching, dependency updates, technical debt reduction
Backup/DR/BCP support
Participate in design reviews, architecture governance and technical assurance
Provide technical leadership/mentoring and contribute to documentation and knowledge transfer
What we're looking for
Senior DevOps / Cloud Engineering experience inAzureandhybridenvironments
StrongIaCskills (Terraform/Bicep/ARM or similar)
StrongCI/CDengineering capability and automation mindset
Proven delivery ofsecure-by-designcloud solutions (DevSecOps)
Experience with monitoring/observability, incident/problem resolution, and operational support (runbooks, documentation)
Ability to work on-site inCanberraas per the hybrid requirements
Prior Federal Government / regulated environment experience
Hands‐on experience with DR testing and recovery procedures
Familiarity with enterprise data/analytics platforms (data platforms context)
