We are currently partnering with the WA Country Health Service to recruit aConsultant Intensivistto join the team at Geraldton Regional Hospital.
This is a great opportunity to step into abrand-new ICU serviceand play a key role in shaping critical care delivery in a growing regional centre.
The Opportunity
This role offers more than a standard consultant position—it's a chance tobuild, influence, and leadwithin a newly developed critical care environment.
Work within amajorly redeveloped health campus(approx. $190M investment)
Join at the launch phase of anew 8-bed ICU and HDU (mid-**** opening)
Be instrumental indesigning models of care, governance, and service delivery
Collaborate closely with ED, inpatient teams, and regional retrieval pathways
Strong focus onleadership, mentorship, and service development
About the Hospital
Geraldton Regional Hospital is a key regional referral centre within WA's Midwest:
Approximately100+ bed regional hospital(expanding with redevelopment)
Functions as aregional hub (Tier 2 capability)supporting surrounding communities
Services include Emergency, General Medicine, Surgery, Mental Health, and now expanding Critical Care
New infrastructure includesICU, ED upgrades, and inpatient facilities
Solid integration withregional and tertiary referral networks
The ICU will support abroad case mix,
offering genuine clinical variety not often seen in metro units.
Salary & Benefits
Total package:approx.
$412,000 – $523,000+ p.a.(incl. 12% super + PD allowance, dependent on experience)
Additional salary banding noted from$333,000 – $432,000 base rangesdepending on contract structure
4 weeks annual leave + 3 weeks PD leave
GenerousCPD allowanceand training opportunities
Opportunity toshape a new ICU from the ground up
Strongclinical leadership exposure(not typically available in metro roles)
Relocation support may be available
Requirements
Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (or equivalent)
Eligibility forspecialist registration with AHPRA
Significant experience inICU settings within comparable healthcare systems
Ability to contribute toclinical leadership, governance, and teaching
