Senior Payroll Officer

$68 per hour + Super

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join a busy and collaborative payroll team based in Broadmeadows. This is a fantastic opportunity for a payroll professional with strong end-to-end payroll experience and proven leadership capabilities to step into a hands‐on senior role. You'll be responsible for supporting payroll operations, allocating work across the team, assisting with complex payroll matters and ensuring the accurate delivery of fortnightly payroll services. Working within a high-volume workplace, you'll provide guidance and support to payroll team members while maintaining exceptional customer service and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Allocate and coordinate work across the Payroll team to ensure priorities and deadlines are met.
n
Provide guidance, support and training to Payroll Officers.
n
Assist with complex payroll processes and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
n
Process fortnightly payroll activities, including timesheet validation, data entry and payroll reconciliation.
n
Ensure payroll data is accurate, balanced and compliant with relevant legislation and enterprise agreements.
n
Maintain employee records, payroll documentation and electronic personnel files.
n
Process onboarding, employee maintenance and termination transactions.
n
Manage superannuation administration, including choice of fund requirements.
n
Respond to payroll-related enquiries and provide high‐quality customer service.
n
Work closely with People & Culture and Finance teams to ensure payroll activities are completed accurately and on time.

About You
n
n
Demonstrated experience in a senior payroll position within a high‐volume environment.
n
Strong knowledge of end-to-end payroll processing.
n
Experience leading, mentoring or allocating work within a payroll team.
n
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
n
Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
n
Excellent attention to detail and problem‐solving capabilities.
n
Sound understanding of payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and compliance requirements.
n
Strong organisational and time management skills.
n
n
Essential Requirements
n
n
Demonstrated experience using Chris21 payroll software.
n
Experience processing payroll from timesheet receipt through to payroll reconciliation.
n
Tertiary qualifications in Payroll, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
n
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
n
Ability to work effectively within a fast‐paced environment.
n
