About the role
The City of Sydney is seeking a Finance Business Partner who combines strong commercial acumen with the ability to transform financial data into meaningful insights that drive better outcomes for our city and community.
As part of our high-performing Financial Planning and Reporting team, you will play a critical role in supporting strategic decision-making across the organisation.
Working closely with senior leaders and diverse business units, you will provide trusted financial advice, influence key initiatives, and help deliver services and projects that enhance Sydney's sustainability, liveability, and prosperity.
In this influential role, you will lead budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance reporting to support informed and effective decision-making.
You will develop robust financial models, evaluate strategic investment opportunities, and provide commercial insights for business cases and major projects.
Through strong stakeholder partnerships, you will translate complex financial information into clear, practical recommendations that add value and drive organisational performance.
This is an opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, solving complex business challenges,
and contributing to outcomes that have a visible and lasting impact on the community.
We are looking for someone with:
CPA, CA, or equivalent tertiary qualifications.
extensive experience in finance business partnering across a broad range of stakeholders and operational areas
solid communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to both financial and non-financial audiences
a collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and influence decision-making.
This is more than a finance role.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
