The Clinical Governance team works with and supports clinical staff to ensure rigorous review and audit of patient outcomes with effective uptake of safety initiatives.
This includes the provision of support and facilitation for quality improvement activities to improve the services that are provided to patients, families and the community.
Join a dedicated Clinical Governance team where your expertise will help drive patient safety, clinical risk management, and quality improvement across Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
This unique and rewarding role is responsible for providing high-level strategic support to the Manager, Patient Safety & Clinical Risk, with a focus on incident management through NSW Health's statewide Incident Management System (ims+).
You will play a key role in supporting and mentoring staff, coordinating help desk services, maintaining data quality and reporting functions, and promoting a strong culture of incident reporting and continuous improvement.
The position also oversees the coordination and monitoring of Safety Alerts and Recalls across the District, ensuring critical communications are actioned promptly to minimise risk and support safe patient care.
Working closely with the Clinical Governance team, you will contribute to the implementation of key clinical governance initiatives, support project delivery, and help achieve meaningful improvements in patient and staff safety outcomes.

What you will bring to the role
High level understanding of principles of database administration and sound understanding and experience in use of patient safety information systems
Strong data collection and data analysis skills including proficiency in the use of databases, Excel spreadsheets, Word and others
Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with health professionals from a variety of clinical and non-clinical disciplines.
Excellent facilitation and problem solving skills
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in patient safety and quality in health care and quality management principles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience in the preparation of reports, briefs or educational materials
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment
Relevant tertiary qualifications in a health or management related discipline
Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
