Join the Maternity Service at Blacktown Hospital, where you will play a key leadership role in supporting the delivery of safe, compassionate and high-quality care to women and newborns.
Working after-hours, you will be part of a collaborative setting where your clinical expertise, sound judgement and ability to lead will make a meaningful difference.
Provide clinical leadership and specialist midwifery expertise across the Maternity Service.
Work collaboratively with midwives and key stakeholders to support safe, effective and woman-centred care.
Contribute to a culture of respect, empowerment and professional excellence.
Support staff development, clinical supervision, peer review and continuous quality improvement.
Respond confidently to complex and changing clinical situations, including supporting vulnerable and distressed women and families.
What you'll be doing
As a Clinical Midwife Specialist Grade 2,



you will use your advanced clinical knowledge and experience to coordinate and deliver complex midwifery care with minimal direct supervision.
You will provide leadership and support to the after-hours maternity team while championing evidence-based practice.
Coordinate and deliver high-quality midwifery care to women and newborns after-hours.
Provide expert clinical advice, critical thinking and sound decision-making in complex situations.
Develop comprehensive care, case planning and discharge plans to optimise outcomes.
Promote evidence-based practice through education, clinical supervision and quality improvement.
Act as a clinical and professional role model, fostering respectful and collaborative relationships.
Registration: Current Registration as a Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Selection Criteria
Current Authority to Practice as a Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with relevant post registration qualifications and at least 3 years' recent experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification.
Evidence of clinical leadership skills and the ability to prioritise and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework to plan, deliver and coordinate women and newborn care.




Demonstrated ability to apply advanced clinical expertise in relation to clinical midwifery practice and independently make decisions that support positive outcomes for women and newborns.
Demonstrated ability to manage and support midwifery staff during obstetric emergency and when complex midwifery care is provided after-hours.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in midwifery practice, the provision of education to others and own professional development.
Demonstrated effective communication through the use of information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
