With a strong focus on safety, quality assurance and end-to-end service delivery, our client is seeking to add a Mechanical Technician to support the inspection, assembly, testing, installation and maintenance of specialised mechanical access equipment.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: • Inspect mechanical equipment, assemblies and components to identify faults, wear and servicing requirements.
• Assemble and install mechanical components, equipment, machine controls and associated access systems.
• Conduct operational and performance testing of hoists, platforms and other mechanical access equipment.
• Preparing drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering work under the guidance of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists.
• Collecting and analysing data, performing complex computations, and preparing relevant diagrams.
• Assist with the installation, servicing, maintenance and, where required, dismantling of vertical access equipment in workshop and project-site environments.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on plant, machinery and access equipment.
• Select appropriate tools, equipment and testing instruments for mechanical installation and maintenance activities.
• Conduct and record mechanical testing and inspection results to assist in identifying performance issues and equipment faults.
• Assist technical and engineering personnel with equipment troubleshooting, maintenance activities, modifications and system improvements.
• Check completed mechanical work against technical specifications, safety requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
• Prepare equipment and mechanical assemblies for transport, installation, commissioning and return to warehouse.
• Inspect machines and plant regularly to ensure secure, reliable and compliant operating condition.
• Estimate materials, replacement components, equipment requirements and resources required for maintenance activities.
• Complete service records, inspection documentation, safety checks and equipment sign-off requirements accurately.
• Support troubleshooting of hydraulic,
mechanical and control systems used within specialised access equipment.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role: • AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in mechanical engineering technology or a closely related discipline; or equivalent relevant industry experience.
• In the absence of the specified formal qualification, at least three years of relevant mechanical, plant, machinery, equipment maintenance or closely comparable technical experience may be accepted.
• A minimum of 12 months' recent, directly relevant experience in the same or a closely comparable role is mandatory.
• Demonstrated experience assembling, installing, inspecting, testing and maintaining mechanical equipment, plant or machinery is essential.
• Strong practical ability to diagnose mechanical faults and complete maintenance, repair and adjustment work accurately and safely.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, maintenance instructions and mechanical documentation relevant to equipment servicing.
• Sound understanding of workplace safety, quality assurance and compliance requirements within mechanical or industrial environments is required.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and with engineering, installation and maintenance teams across workshop and site environments.
