We are seeking an experienced and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated commercial cooking experience and the ability to work efficiently in a busy restaurant environment while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and presentation.
About the Role The Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with the restaurant's menu, recipes and established food preparation standards.
The successful applicant will be required to prepare ingredients, operate commercial cooking equipment, monitor cooking processes, maintain food quality and presentation, and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities : Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness before preparation and cooking.
Preparing, cleaning, cutting, chopping, marinating and portioning ingredients for cooking.
Preparing and completing daily mise en place prior to service.
Preparing, seasoning and cooking food in accordance with recipes and established restaurant standards.
Cooking food using appropriate methods including grilling, frying, roasting, baking, boiling and other cooking techniques.
Regulating and monitoring temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers, stoves and other cooking equipment.
Operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
Monitoring cooking times,



temperatures and cooking processes to ensure food is prepared to the required standard.
Checking the quality, consistency and presentation of dishes before and during service.
Portioning and presenting meals in accordance with established portion and presentation standards.
Preparing meals efficiently and consistently during busy service periods.
Preparing meals in accordance with customer dietary requirements and special food requests where required.
Ensuring food and ingredients are appropriately stored, labelled and handled to maintain freshness and food safety.
Monitoring ingredient usage, portion control and food wastage.
Assisting with stock control and monitoring kitchen supplies.
Receiving, checking and appropriately storing food deliveries.
Maintaining clean and hygienic food preparation, cooking and storage areas.
Cleaning and maintaining cooking equipment, utensils and kitchen work areas after service.
Complying with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
Working cooperatively with other kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently.
Assisting with general kitchen duties and food preparation as required.
Assisting in menu planning and estimate food requirements.
Skills and Experience The successful applicant will have: Demonstrated commercial experience working as a Cook in a restaurant or hospitality environment.




Strong practical cooking and food preparation skills.
Experience preparing and cooking a variety of dishes.
Ability to work efficiently in a busy commercial kitchen.
Knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods and food presentation.
Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
Ability to operate commercial cooking equipment safely and effectively.
Knowledge of portion control and minimising food wastage.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to training kitchen staff/apprentices Ability to maintain consistent standards of food quality, cleanliness and presentation.
Availability to work full time, including weekends and public holidays where required.
A relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent practical skills and experience will be highly regarded.
Employment Conditions This is a full-time position of 38 hours per week.
The successful applicant will be offered a salary of $82,500 per annum plus superannuation, subject to applicable employment laws and conditions.
