VPS5 Senior Data Analyst - Ongoing, Full-Time
Use your data skills to help shape a better Victorian public sector.
The Victorian Public Sector Commission is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Data and Insights team.
This is a role for someone who enjoys turning complex data into clear, useful insights.
You will work on whole-of-government workforce data, helping the Commission and public sector organisations understand workforce trends, improve reporting and make better evidence-based decisions.
We are looking for someone who is curious, practical and comfortable working through problems with others.
You will need to ask good questions, test ideas, raise issues early and help find sensible ways forward when the answer is not obvious.
This is not a role for someone who wants to work alone with limited contact.
You will work closely with the Principal Data and Insights Lead, team members and stakeholders, with regular check-ins about progress, risks, issues and priorities.
You will be comfortable sharing work early, responding to feedback and solving problems as part of a team.
You will also help support junior team members, build consistent ways of working and contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture.
We are looking for someone with:
advanced SQL and Python skills
experience working with complex datasets
experience producing reports, dashboards or data products that support decision-making
strong judgement and problem-solving skills
the ability to explain data clearly to different audiences
a collaborative working style and solid communication skills.




Experience with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric will be highly regarded.
