About the School
St Michael's Grammar School, a leading independentco-educational school in St Kilda, is seeking a Finance Officer(Accounts Receivable/Assistant Accountant) to join our Finance Teamin a full-time, ongoing capacity. Reporting to the Finance Manager,you will provide accurate, timely and high-quality financial andaccounting support while building positive relationships across theSchool community. The role is responsible for assisting withmonth-end accounting processes, reconciliations, audit preparationand financial reporting, while managing the accounts receivablefunction, including tuition fee billing, debtor management andstakeholder enquiries.
This opportunity is ideal for a recent accounting or finance graduate seeking to build a career in accounting and financial administration, or for an experienced professional looking to develop practical experience across a broad range of finance activities within a collaborative and supportive team.
The Role
You will be responsible for assisting the team in aspects of the finance function, including:
Tuition fee and debtor management.
Customer invoicing and statements.
Follow up on overdue accounts and outstandingpayments.
Liaise with parents regarding account enquiries and paymentmatters.
Process periodic instalment payments and maintain accuratepayment records.
Prepare reports on collection activities and monitor theeffectiveness of debt collection processes.
Process monthly tuition fee instalments and any additionalstudent-related charges.
General Ledger reconciliations.
Journal entries.
Month end processing.
Bank reconciliations.
Support the Finance team as and when required.




Essential Qualifications & Requirements
Accounting Certificate or Degree is preferred.
Background in the education sector is desirable.
Knowledge of PayWay and Synergetic systems are preferredbut not essential.
Must hold a current Employee Working with Children Check orbe willing to obtain.
National Police History Check (Obtained within the last sixmonths).
