Position: Painter Position Type : Full-Time Salary: $79,943 plus superannuation per annum Location: Sydney NSW **** Our client is seeking an experienced Painter to join their team in Sydney, New South Wales.
The Painter is responsible for preparing, painting and finishing the interior and exterior surfaces of residential and commercial properties.
The role requires the application of paints, varnishes, stains, wallpapers and other protective or decorative finishes while ensuring that all work meets project specifications, quality standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Review plans, specifications, colour schedules and client requirements to determine the materials and finishes required for each project.
Inspect and assess surfaces to determine the appropriate preparation and application methods.
Calculate the quantity of paint, materials and other supplies required to complete each project.
Set up work areas and protect floors, furniture, windows, fixtures and surrounding surfaces from paint and damage.
Erect and safely use ladders, trestles, scaffolding and other access equipment where required.
Remove old paint, wallpaper and other existing finishes using scrapers, heat guns, chemical removers, sanding equipment or other appropriate methods.
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, washing, sanding, scraping, filling holes and cracks, repairing minor surface imperfections and applying sealants or undercoats.
Mix paints and other coating products to achieve the required colour, consistency and finish.
Apply primers, paints, varnishes, stains, sealers and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other painting tools.
Apply decorative finishes, textured coatings,
wallpaper or other specialised finishes where required.
Ensure paint and coating applications are even, consistent and completed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and project specifications.
Match existing colours and finishes when carrying out restoration, maintenance or repair work.
Perform touch-ups and rectify defects to ensure the completed work meets the required quality standards.
Maintain painting tools, spray equipment and other machinery in positive working condition.
Clean work areas and safely dispose of paint, solvents and other materials in accordance with environmental and workplace requirements.
Liaise with supervisors, clients, contractors and other tradespeople to coordinate work and ensure projects are completed within the required timeframes.
Monitor stock levels and notify the supervisor when additional materials or equipment are required.
Comply with workplace health and safety procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment and the safe handling of paints, chemicals and solvents.
Complete any required job records, material usage reports, safety documentation and project checklists.
Requirements: A relevant trade qualification in painting and decorating, or at least three (3) years of relevant full-time work experience as a Painter in substitution for the formal qualification.
At least three (3) years of relevant experience as a Painter Valid drivers licence White card Demonstrated experience in residential and/or commercial painting, including surface preparation, colour matching and the application of paints, varnishes and protective coatings.
Experience using brushes, rollers, spray-painting equipment and other surface-preparation tools.
