Protech are seeking an experienced Project Engineer – Electrical to support the delivery of sustaining capital and non-process infrastructure projects across Port, Rail and Mine operations in Western Australia.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing projects team, working across multidisciplinary scopes in a site-based role on an 8/6 FIFO roster.
ABOUT THE ROLE ASAP start available 12-month initial contract with potential for extension FIFO 8/6 roster 12-hour days Work across both Mine Site and Port/Rail operations Competitive hourly rate of $75-$80 per hour, dependent on experience Exposure to a broad range of electrical and multidisciplinary projects Opportunity to work with a leading WA mining operation KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide electrical engineering support and field leadership across active project work fronts Deliver electrical project scopes including power distribution, switchboards, MCCs, cabling, earthing, lighting, communications, instrumentation and control systems Coordinate contractors, consultants and vendors to ensure safe and efficient project execution Review and manage designs, technical documentation, work packs, permits, isolations and risk controls Lead toolbox meetings, risk assessments, safety interactions and field leadership activities Manage technical interfaces across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, instrumentation and controls disciplines Coordinate design reviews, inspections, testing, commissioning and handover activities Monitor contractor safety, quality, productivity, schedule and compliance performance Support procurement activities including technical evaluations and equipment selection Manage project costs, variations,



forecasts and progress reporting Maintain project records, action registers, meeting minutes and technical correspondence Support commissioning, defect rectification, operational readiness and project close-out activities Build robust relationships with Operations, Maintenance and key project stakeholders SKILLS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Demonstrated Project Engineering experience within mining, resources, infrastructure, utilities or heavy industry Strong understanding of electrical design, construction, testing and commissioning Experience delivering LV and/or HV electrical infrastructure projects Proven capability managing projects through scoping, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and close-out Experience coordinating multiple contractors, consultants and project work fronts Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems including switchboards, MCCs, power distribution, instrumentation and control systems Ability to review technical drawings, specifications, schedules, ITPs and engineering documentation Sound understanding of electrical safety, isolations, energisation and commissioning requirements Strong commercial awareness including cost control,



contractor management and variation assessment Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project environments Practical, solutions-focused approach with strong organisational skills Flexibility to work across Port, Rail and Mine operations ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia Current unrestricted Australian C-Class Driver's Licence Full Australian working rights DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards chartership Professional Engineer registration in an Australian jurisdiction High Voltage Switching, Electrical Safety, Hazardous Areas or Functional Safety training Experience delivering sustaining capital projects within operational mining environments Experience across multidisciplinary projects including civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and controls Experience using SAP, Aconex, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, INX, Teams and Excel Exposure to commissioning, operational readiness and asset management processes HOW TO APPLY?
