The primary aims of the Austin Health Psychological Trauma Recovery Inpatient Unit (Ward 17) are to: Improve mental health outcomes for individuals with trauma-related complex care needs, through the provision of comprehensive and evidence-based treatments, to engender an environment that promotes individual autonomy and supported-decision making within a recovery focused model of care.
About the role
The ANUM is an experienced clinician who will practice in accordance with mental health nursing frameworks developed by Safercare Victoria.
In utilizing a recovery approach, you will communicate using recovery language, promoting hope, and fostering the individual's self-determination, strengths and goals.
The ANUM will escalateto senior staff all relevant incidents and occurrences both during business hours and in the after-hour period; consistent with escalation policies and procedures and a commitment to the least restrictive model of care.
A regular day will see you:
Deliver consumer-focussed nursing care in conjuction within the nursing and multidisciplinary team
Ensure the provision of quality psychiatric nursing practice through effective staff management
Show clinical leadership and professional role modelling
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to delivering outstanding and compassionate patient care.
You'll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest indeveloping your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
Demonstrated leadership ability, with a explicit understanding of managerial responsibilities of the ANUM role
Demonstrated knowledge of,



and commitment to, Recovery Orientated Practice, Trauma Informed care, Safewards Model and collaborative clinic practice
Lead with compassion and understanding
Previous Anum experience is preferential, however an experienced RPN of 3+ years with Nurse-In-Charge experience and with the appropriate skill-set may be potentially considered for the role
