Resources Victoria is seeking an exceptional leader to drive the development, reform and stewardship of Victoria's legislative and regulatory frameworks for resource development.
Lead the development, reform and stewardship of Victoria's legislative and regulatory frameworks for the earth resources sector.
Provide authoritative strategic advice to the Minister and senior executives on legislative, policy and governance matters.
Identify emerging issues, risks and opportunities, and coordinate whole-of-government responses.
Build and maintain trusted partnerships with Traditional Owners, industry, regulators, local government and regional communities.
Represent Resources Victoria in senior government, industry and stakeholder forums.
Lead and develop a high-performing and team-oriented team focused on delivering strategic outcomes.
You are a strategic and influential leader with significant experience in legislative, regulatory, legal or public policy environments.
You bring strong political acumen, sound judgement and a proven ability to lead complex reform programs while building productive relationships across a diverse stakeholder landscape.
You will bring:
Proven experience leading legislative, regulatory or policy reform in a complex government, legal or regulatory environment.
Strong strategic thinking, judgement and the ability to navigate complex and sensitive issues.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills,
with the ability to build trusted partnerships across government, industry, Traditional Owners and community stakeholders.
Experience leading and developing high-performing teams while delivering organisational outcomes.
Outstanding communication skills and demonstrated experience providing trusted advice to senior executives, Ministers and government decision-makers.
A tertiary qualification in Law is mandatory.
About the organisation
We employ approximately 6,300 staff, including around 600 seasonal staff, across more than 86 locations throughout Victoria, across energy, environment, climate action, water, agriculture, and resources portfolios.
Our challenge is to maintain Victoria's liveability, with a population expected to almost double by ****, while responding to climate change and protecting our natural environment, infrastructure and heritage for future generations.
We take a community-centred approach and involve communities and key stakeholders in decisions and policies that affect them and we collaborate across our portfolios to design and deliver services and programs.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of up to 5 years.
The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street,
East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
