We are looking for dedicated Elective Surgery Wait List Management Clerks to join our team and play an important role in supporting the safe and effective management of elective surgery waiting lists.
About the Opportunity
As an Elective Surgery Wait List Management Clerk, you will provide high-quality clerical and administrative support to ensure elective surgery waiting lists are accurately maintained and managed in accordance with NSW Ministry of Health policies and procedures.
Your role is vital in supporting patients throughout their surgical journey, ensuring accurate information is recorded, waiting lists are effectively managed, and patients receive timely and helpful communication.
In this role you will:
Manage and maintain elective surgery waiting lists in accordance with relevant NSW Ministry of Health waiting time and elective surgery policies.
Ensure patient information, bookings, pre-admissions, admissions, cancellations and deferrals are accurately documented.
Generate and maintain accurate theatre lists using SurgiNet, making changes as directed by the relevant Nurse Manager.
Monitor waiting lists, identify potential issues and support planning to ensure patients proceed to surgery within their clinical priority timeframe.
Provide a patient-centred advocacy approach, acting as an effective liaison between patients, clinicians and the hospital.
Communicate professionally and empathetically with patients, relatives, carers, medical staff and the broader multidisciplinary team.




Maintain a high level of productivity while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and quality in all administrative processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret information, prepare reports and correspondence.
High-level computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with demonstrated accuracy in data entry and experience working with patient information systems.
Strong organisational, problem-solving and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet strict deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team with limited supervision.
A strong understanding of confidentiality and the ability to apply confidentiality principles appropriately when handling patient information.
Knowledge and understanding of NSW Ministry of Health waiting time and elective patient management policies, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.
A medical terminology qualification or demonstrated experience using medical terminology.
