The
Infant Child Youth Mental Health (ICYMHS) team
is seeking a
Senior Consumer Peer Worker
to join our Lived & Living Experience Workforce.
This position offers leadership responsibilities alongside direct community impact and is open to both Full-Time and Part-Time applicants.
About the Role
In this position, you will deliver practical, social, and emotional support to young consumers by sharing your own recovery and healing experiences.
Your work will focus on role-modelling hope, fostering relationships built on mutual trust, and promoting self-determination and empowerment in every interaction.
As a senior member of the team, you will also provide vital leadership and guidance to peer colleagues.
You will act as a trusted point of advice for managing complex consumer needs, applying advanced problem-solving skills and skilled judgment within relevant service frameworks.
Key Requirements
We are actively seeking candidates who possess:
Lived Experience: Personal lived or living experience of mental ill health, psychological distress, alcohol and other drug (AOD) use or dependence, and/or suicidality.
Peer Work Leadership: Demonstrated experience working as a Peer Worker within a mental health setting, including a background in providing mentoring, supervision, leadership, or practice development support to other lived experience staff.
Formal Training: Completion of a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work and Core Intentional Peer Support Training.
Purposeful Practice: A proven ability to intentionally utilise your lived experience to promote hope, recovery, and wellbeing for consumers.
