An exciting opportunity is available for committed and enthusiastic Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists to join the expanding Child, Youth and Family Mental Health (CYF-MH) stream within Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD).
This is an opportunity to work across a diverse and innovative range of specialist child, youth and family mental health services, delivering high quality psychiatric assessments, treatment, consultation and leadership to children, adolescents, young people and families experiencing complex mental health difficulties.
The successful applicant will contribute to service delivery across the CYF-MH portfolio, notably to Safeguards, Whole Family Team and/or the Youth Mental Health Initiative.
These teams support young people and their families and include an emphasis on timely crisis-related care and systems-level engagement.
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist will provide medical leadership within team settings and work collaboratively with consumers, families, carers, partner agencies and lived experience workers to deliver recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, family-inclusive and evidence-informed care.
The successful applicant will participate in complex clinical decision-making, service development, quality improvement activities and workforce development through supervision, teaching and mentoring of junior medical staff and students.
CYF-MH is undergoing significant growth and includes a broad range of specialist programs and emerging models of care.
CYF-MH provides specialist services to children, young people and their families across the Penrith, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Lithgow Local Government Areas.

Successful applicants will participate in the District-wide Child, Youth and Family Mental Health Consultant after-hours roster.
As negotiated with the Medical Lead and Medical Director, the role may include service provision across multiple CYF-MH programs and other areas of the Mental Health Service in accordance with clinical expertise and service requirements.
Negotiation of fractional appointments will require consideration of minimum requirements for the program(s).
Requests to be appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) will be considered upon request.
Applicants who expect to be eligible for Fellowship within 6 months and who have no more than one College-administered assessment to complete may be considered; if successful, the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.

Possess or be eligible for: registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)



or equivalent as provided by the Health Insurance Act ****; Advanced Certificate of Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; current NSW driver's licence.
Demonstrated commitment to Continuing Professional Development and reflective practice.
Demonstrated expertise and experience in providing effective, high quality mental health services in a psychiatry setting; demonstrated commitment to person-centered, recovery oriented, family inclusive, trauma informed and need adapted principles of care.
Demonstrated ability to support and work in collaboratively interprofessional contexts that include lived-experience professionals; sound knowledge of psychiatry encompassing biological, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual domains.
Expertise and experience relevant to the position.
Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication ability including capacity to communicate clearly, inclusively, and respectfully.
Word processing skills necessary to complete expert documentation.
Demonstrated skill and commitment to the teaching and supervision of medical staff, non-medical colleagues, and students consistent with contemporary best practice; commitment to interprofessional learning.
Qualities, attitudes, and articulated values consistent with a senior medical practitioner providing mental health care to consumers across the age span and their social networks; and evidence of high ethical and qualified standards.
Experience in or capacity for supporting quality improvement and clinical governance activities; and demonstrated commitment to high quality care provision in the public sector.
Familiarity with and support of basic, clinical, and applied research activities relevant to the needs of the Mental Health Service and its staff and the ability to draw on values and research concepts in the appraisal of evidence, guidelines, and quality improvement activities.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act ****, and Staff Specialists (State) Award
Employees and Contractors must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
The position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the office of the Children's Guardian.
