Salary:
From $121,839 plus Superannuation - Potential opportunity to negotiate salary based on skills and experience.
The Senior Lawyer is responsible for assisting with the delivery of high-level professional legal advice across all aspects of local government law, with a particular focus on commercial, property and administrative law.
This exciting opportunity will see the successful candidate work closely with the City's **** Games Coordination team, while also providing trusted legal advice and support to the Mayor, Councillors, Chief Executive Officer, Executive General Managers, Managers and employees on a broad range of legal matters.
As a key member of the Legal Services team, you will play a strategic role in supporting the City's major projects, governance frameworks and commercial initiatives. You will partner with senior stakeholders across the organisation, helping to manage legal risk, ensure compliance and deliver practical, solutions-focused legal advice that enables the City to achieve its objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements
Providing legal support for asset and property acquisitions and disposals
Advising on intellectual property registrations, protection and licensing arrangements
Delivering procurement, contracting and probity advice
Managing administrative law, governance and regulatory matters
Providing timely, practical and commercially focused legal advice to support Council in exercising its responsibilities and powers as a local government
Working under the broad direction of the Manager Legal Services while exercising a significant degree of professional judgement and autonomy
Liaising with a range of external stakeholders, including courts, tribunals and government agencies, such as the Magistrates Court, Land Court,



Planning and Environment Court, and other relevant regulatory bodies.

You are an experienced legal qualified with solid technical expertise, sound judgement and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You thrive in a dynamic environment, can confidently manage competing priorities, and provide pragmatic legal solutions that support organisational outcomes.
