Are you looking for an opportunity to contribute to a unique organisation at the heart of Queensland's democracy? Queensland Parliamentary Service is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Payroll Officer to join our Payroll Services team. In this role, you will support the accurate and timely delivery of payroll and personnel administration services for employees across the Parliamentary Service and the Office of the Governor. Working in a energetic environment, you will play an important role in ensuring employees, Members and stakeholders receive accurate remuneration and professional advice while contributing to the continuous improvement of payroll processes and services.
Key Objectives
Assist in the accurate and timely delivery of payroll and personnel administration services.
Support the administration of payroll transactions and employee records across the Parliamentary Service.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance payroll and personnel administration services.
Your Role
Administer daily payroll activities to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for Parliamentary Service employees, electorate staff and the Office of the Governor.
Process payroll transactions including appointments, employee record updates, separations, casual timesheets, overtime and higher duties payments.
Review and process electorate office casual timesheets and maintain records to ensure entitlement limits are not exceeded.
Assist in preparing documentation relating to salaries and allowances for Members of the Legislative Assembly in accordance with relevant legislation and policies.
Provide accurate and timely advice to Members, managers and employees regarding remuneration and entitlements.
Support payroll-related projects and initiatives that improve systems, processes and service delivery.
Contribute positively to the team environment and assist colleagues as required.
What We're Looking For
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Experience processing payroll transactions using a payroll management system, Aurion or a similar system will be highly regarded.
Ability to interpret and apply payroll-related policies, procedures and entitlements, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities, work to strict deadlines and perform effectively in a busy environment.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
