Charlotte Pass Snow Resort is seeking a qualified and motivated
Fitter & Ropeway Maintenance Technician
to join our Engineering Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical lift infrastructure, mechanical systems, and resort assets in the heart of the Snowy Mountains.

About the Role
Reporting to the Mountain Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, testing, fault-finding, and repair of ropeway systems and associated mechanical infrastructure across the resort. The role also supports broader resort maintenance activities, infrastructure projects, emergency response, and winter operations.
Working within a remote alpine environment, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and operational readiness of Charlotte Pass Snow Resort's lift network and mechanical assets.
Key Responsibilities
Ropeway Maintenance
Inspect, maintain and repair ski lifts and ropeway systems
Complete operational and technical lift inspections
Maintain grips, carriers, towers, sheaves, tensioning and braking systems
Assist with statutory inspections, component overhauls and commissioning activities
Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records
Mechanical Maintenance
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant and equipment
Fault-find and repair hydraulic, drive and mechanical systems
Undertake welding, fabrication and workshop activities
Support continuous improvement and asset reliability initiatives
Resort Operations
Assist with infrastructure maintenance projects
Support snow clearing and winter operations activities
Participate in emergency response and lift evacuation procedures
Assist contractors and specialist service providers undertaking works throughout the resort
About You
You are a trade-qualified mechanical professional who enjoys working in challenging environments and takes pride in maintaining critical infrastructure safely and efficiently.
Trade qualification as a Fitter, Mechanical Tradesperson or equivalent
Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical maintenance
Current Driver Licence
Construction White Card
Ability to work safely at heights
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
Highly Regarded
Ropeway or ski lift maintenance experience
Working at Heights certification
Elevated Work Platform (EWP)
licence
Confined Space certification
Welding and fabrication experience
Hydraulic systems maintenance and fault finding experience
Industrial or heavy mechanical maintenance experience
First Aid and rescue qualifications
