About the role
The Event Coordinator sits within the Event Strategy and Delivery team in Experience Melbourne and offers an exciting opportunity to help bring some of Melbourne's most iconic major events to life.
Working across the New Year's Eve and Firelight teams, you'll provide hands‐on coordination and operational support across the planning, delivery and wrap‐up of major events that attract thousands of people into the city.
A little more about the role
Coordinate key operational components across New Year's Eve and Firelight, supporting delivery from planning through to bump‐in, live event and bump‐out.
Build trusted relationships with internal teams, businesses, contractors, suppliers and community stakeholders, confidently navigating questions, concerns and competing needs.
Keep multiple priorities moving at once from event plans, schedules and logistics through to contractors, infrastructure, safety requirements and onsite operations.
Respond quickly and calmly when plans change, using sound judgement and a practical, solutions‐focused approach to keep event delivery on track.

About you
You're an organised, adaptable and confident event professional who enjoys working at pace and seeing plans come to life. You're comfortable building relationships with people from all walks of life and know how to communicate clearly and professionally, even when conversations are challenging or circumstances are changing quickly.
What your experience might look like
Demonstrated experience in event coordination, operations and delivery, ideally within large‐scale, public or community events.
Strong project management and organisational skills, including managing plans, deadlines, budgets and multiple competing priorities.
Proven ability to develop effective relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, contractors, businesses and community members.
An understanding of operational and risk management requirements associated with major events and the ability to respond effectively to issues as they arise.
Strong event administration and communication skills, with experience preparing event plans, schedules, reports and other documentation to support successful event delivery.
