Are you ready to make a real impact on Mackay's civil infrastructure? We are seeking motivated and experienced Leading Hand Maintenance professionals to join our Civil Operations team in Sarina.
n
As a Leading Hand Maintenance Officer, you will supervise a team each day to deliver scheduled maintenance and construction activities. You'll apply your expertise to ensure all work meets high standards, while promoting a positive image of Council through excellent client service, effective work practices, and the timely, high-quality completion of tasks.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Supervise and support a team delivering road, drainage, and other civil construction and maintenance activities.
n
Plan, organise, and coordinate staff and resources to ensure timely and high-quality completion of assigned tasks.
n
Perform hands‐on construction and maintenance work as required.
n
Champion health and safety by leading training and promoting safe work practices in line with WH&S; regulations.
n
Oversee the use, maintenance, and minor repair of small plant, vehicles, and equipment.
n
Manage traffic control at worksites to ensure safety for workers and the public.
n
Maintain accurate records and complete required paperwork promptly.
n
Provide excellent client service to both internal and external stakeholders.
n
Mentor and train team members, sharing knowledge and supporting skills development.
n
Ensure all work complies with environmental legislation and best practice procedures.
n
Carry out additional duties as directed by the Supervisor.

Essential
n
Qualifications & Experience
n
n
Certificate III in Civil Construction or ability to obtain within two (2) years.
n
QLD "C" Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent.
n
Note: interstate licences must be transferred to QLD within three (3) months of commencement.
n
Current QLD Heavy Rigid Truck 'HR' Class Licence or interstate equivalent. Note:
interstate licences must be transferred to QLD within three (3) months of commencement.
n
Current General Construction Safety 'White' Card.
n
Current Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) qualifications or ability to obtain within three (3) months.
n
Certificate of Competency to operate road construction plant and/or equipment such as roller, loader, backhoe, grader.
n
Sound ability to read, write and perform basic numerical calculations to a standard commensurate with the duties involved in the position.
n
Sound skills in oral and written communication including the ability to manage clients and key stakeholders.
n
Ability to maintain high level of quality assurance in all works performed.
n
Ability to read, interpret and understanding basic engineering design drawings and standard drawings.
n
Ability to provide high quality customer and client service.
n
Ability to adapt to changing work environments and/or conditions while maintaining to positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
n
Ability to work cooperatively with others and foster a team environment.
n
Competent operation of survey equipment including total station and interpreting survey data.
n
n
Special Requirements
n
Willingness and flexibility to work overtime outside normal hours, where required, to undertake assigned tasks.
n

Base annual salary of $70,471 – $73,016 plus allowances as applicable (the level offered will be determined on the successful candidates' qualifications and experience. This is a banded Level 5/6 position)
