What you'll be doing
The SCHN SafeHaven Mental Health Clinician will provide high quality recovery orientated, trauma informed support in collaboration with Peer Suicide Prevention Workers to young people aged up to 18 years who use the SafeHaven. The SCHN SafeHaven is a suicide prevention service that provides a warm welcoming space for young people experiencing suicidal crisis where compassionate care is provided in a non-clinical environment. The SafeHaven aims to provide an alternative to attending an emergency department when distressed by suicidal crisis.
The SafeHaven Mental Health Clinician is the Senior on shift who provides clinical support and oversight for the Suicide Prevention Peer Workers delivering the service.

Shift work, including weekends, and attendance at meetings, supervision and training is a requirement of the role.
The SafeHaven Mental Health Clinician will ensure co-design with people who have a lived experience of suicidal crisis is central to all aspects of the service and ensuring all activities are unpinned by Recovery Orientated Practices, Trauma Informed Care, Strengths based approaches and person centred care. The role has a particular emphasis on working collaboratively with consumers to access clinical services if required. Other activities may include safety, recovery and wellness planning, individual support, advocacy, collaborative identification of community support, follow up and support to access other services to address situational distress.
The position holder will be responsible for actively promoting the SafeHaven service and enhancing the partnerships and referral pathways with the key stakeholders to address situational distress.
