What you'll do:
Join Santos as Team Leader Gas & Liquids Optimisation and lead the process engineering support across our Major Hazard Facilities at Moomba, Port Bonython, and Varanus Island. Based in Brisbane with frequent site visits, you will manage people, systems, processes, and resources to deliver process engineering and operations support while driving optimisation and carbon reduction opportunities.
Key accountabilities include:
Partner with Maintenance & Operations Leaders to meet production and efficiency targets across our Major Hazard Facilities.
Drive operational efficiency, margin improvement, and cost reduction initiatives across gas and liquids processing.
Lead continuous process optimisation, including energy efficiency projects, FFV reduction, and loss minimisation.
Develop and optimise Surveillance Management Plans and strategies for secure, efficient, and reliable operations.
Champion risk management, EHS compliance,



and a strong process safety culture built on barrier ownership and early intervention.
Provide technical authority for Engineering Discipline Reviews, Management of Change, and hazard studies.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of Operations Engineers in day-to-day optimisation and troubleshooting.
What you'll bring:
We are looking for a highly capable and results-driven process engineering leader with deep expertise in gas and liquids processing within the Oil and Gas industry. Your ability to lead people, drive operational excellence, and deliver tangible optimisation outcomes across major hazard facilities will be key to your success. You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
10+ years of chemical/process engineering experience, preferably in Oil and Gas.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
Eligibility for RPEQ (e.g., Chartered Engineer status).
Proven leadership experience managing engineers, tradespeople, and/or operators.
Strong knowledge of process safety, engineering design practices, and industry standards.
Experience developing and maintaining surveillance management plans and equipment management programs.
CPEng certification and/or an MBA will be highly regarded.
