As the business continues to scale, they are looking to appoint a Senior Financial Accountant to join their Melbourne-based finance team.

About the role
n
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a hands-on financial accounting role within a fast-paced, multi-entity setting.
n
You'll take broad ownership across month‐end, financial reporting, balance sheet management and financial controls, helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of the group's financial information.
n
With a business that has grown quickly through acquisition, there is also a significant focus on improving how finance operates. You'll work across existing processes and systems, identifying gaps, improving controls and helping build a more efficient and scalable finance function.

Key responsibilities include:
n
n
Take ownership of key areas of the month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
n
Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial and management reporting across a multi‐entity group
n
Maintain balance sheet integrity, ensuring key accounts are appropriately reconciled and supported
n
Review financial transactions and investigate discrepancies, accounting issues and control gaps
n
Support statutory reporting, tax compliance and external audit requirements
n
Work across billing, revenue and working capital processes to ensure transactional activity is accurately reflected in the general ledger
n
Maintain and strengthen financial controls, policies and procedures across the group
n
Identify inefficiencies and improve finance processes as the organisation continues to scale
n




Support systems improvements, automation and optimisation across month‐end and financial reporting
n
Work with the broader finance team to standardise processes across a growing multi‐entity environment
n

About you
n
This opportunity is suited to an ambitious accountant looking to take the next step in their career within a complex, high‐growth environment.
n
This opportunity could suit a Big 4 or mid‐tier second mover with commercial experience, an industry‐trained accountant with 4–6+ years' progressive experience, or a Business Services / CFO Advisory first mover with hands‐on month‐end experience across multi‐entity groups.
n
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
n
n
CA or CPA qualified, or nearing completion
n
Strong hands‐on month‐end experience across journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
n
Experience working within a multi‐entity or similarly complex accounting environment
n
Strong financial reporting and balance sheet fundamentals
n
Good understanding of financial controls and accounting processes
n
An ability to investigate accounting issues and work through problems independently
n
Solid systems skills and an interest in improving and automating finance processes
n
NetSuite experience would be advantageous
n
Proactive, hands‐on approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast‐paced environment
n
