You’ll provide practical, emotional and crisis support to young people experiencing homelessness, disadvantage and complex life circumstances.Working in a supportive **24/7 residential environment**, you’ll play an important role in creating a safe and welcoming space where young people feel heard, respected and supported to achieve their goals.**Why this role matters**The Salvation Army (Salvos) Youth Services encompasses a range of programs for vulnerable young people, their families, and the community. Our services have a strong focus on prevention and early intervention and enable access to safe accommodation options, Holistic case management, community outreach programs and programs that teach vital independent living skills. Our centres are safe and supportive environments creating an ideal environment for growth, where participants feel believed in, valued, listened to, and respected.**What You'll Do**As a Youth Support Worker, you will:* Build positive, respectful and trusting relationships with young people* Provide practical, emotional and crisis support in a 24/7 residential environment* Support young people to develop independence, confidence and life skills* Assist with implementing support plans and case management goals* Encourage participation in wellbeing, recreational and life skills programs* Assist young people to access housing, education, employment,



health and community services* Support young people to strengthen positive family and social connections* Advocate for young people and help them navigate services and support systems* Maintain accurate case notes, records and documentation* Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive residential environment* Respond appropriately to challenging situations and crisis presentations* Work collaboratively with colleagues, external services and community partners* Contribute to a positive team culture focused on achieving meaningful outcomes for young people**What We're Looking For**We’re looking for people who are:* Compassionate, resilient and genuinely passionate about working with young people* Patient, approachable and able to build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds* Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal skills* Comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes unpredictable environment* Able to remain calm, qualified and solution-focused during challenging situations* Confident in setting appropriate boundaries while maintaining respectful relationships* Reliable, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team* Committed to supporting young people to make positive and sustainable changes in their lives* Aligned with The Salvation Army’s values and commitment to supporting people experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage**Essential Requirements*** Minimum **Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work or a related discipline*** Current **Queensland Driver Licence*** Current **Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card)*** Current **First Aid Certificate**, or willingness to obtain* Ability and willingness to work across a **24/7 roster**, including weekends, evenings,
