About this role
Work in the stunning coastal landscapes of Cape Conran and East Gippsland, helping protect some of Victoria's most treasured natural environments. Join a supportive and close-knit team delivering meaningful conservation, visitor experience and community engagement outcomes. Enjoy a diverse outdoor role where no two days are the same, from asset maintenance and conservation projects to education programs and working with Traditional Owners. We are looking for a Ranger to join our small team at Cape Conran for 12 months. As a Ranger at Parks Victoria, you could be working across a diverse range of tasks and activities, all of which are aimed at preserving our parks, engaging with the community and hands‑on maintenance of our facilities. Our team manages parks in the Cape Conran area. We also work with other teams in East Gippsland to conduct a variety of maintenance and project work. You will be playing a key role in delivering a variety of projects and practical tasks that are essential in keeping our Parks open, safe and clean.
Your responsibilities may include:
- maintenance of our infrastructure
- clearing and pruning vegetation to keep our visitor sites open
- delivery of education programs
- engagement with local community groups
- conservation program delivery
- working with Traditional Owners

We're looking for someone with
- Relevant skills for the on-ground management of our Parks, such as trade skills, horticulture experience, outdoor education and community engagement, or qualifications across environmental science, natural resource management or conservation and land management
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, and contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive team workplace
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain concepts to people of different backgrounds and to engage constructively with colleagues and stakeholders
- The ability to work constructively with members of the public, volunteer groups and park visitors
- An ability to engage with visitors including taking part in activities such as our Junior Ranger and volunteer programs
- A current drivers licence
