Occupational Therapist - Brighter Beginnings

Community-based child development screening across Western Sydney. NSW Health & Education partnership driving early childhood outcomes. Be part of an innovative health and development screening service.

Lead child development screening in early education settings, supporting families and educators across Western Sydney communities.

Position Classification: Occupational Therapist Level 1 / 2

Remuneration: $79,419 – $113,301 per annum

Hours Per Week: 38

Location: Blacktown and Merrylands Community Health Centres

Where you'll be working

Brighter Beginnings is an innovative partnership between NSW Health and the NSW Department of Education, delivering health and developmental screening, assessment and early intervention services to preschool-aged children across Western Sydney.

Based at Blacktown and Merrylands Community Health Centres, you'll join a passionate multidisciplinary team committed to improving outcomes for children and families during the most important years of development. This role offers the prospect to work directly within early childhood education settings while building strong partnerships across health, education and community sectors.

What you'll be doing

As the Brighter Beginnings Occupational Therapist, you will provide screening, assessment, therapy and intervention services for preschool children experiencing developmental, neurological and motor challenges. You will play a key role in supporting children to achieve their developmental potential through innovative and family-centred care.

Key responsibilities include

- Conduct developmental screening, assessment and evidence-based occupational therapy interventions for children up to four years of age
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary health professionals, educators, families and community partners to coordinate and deliver integrated care
- Build the capability of parents, early childhood educators and health staff through education, coaching and therapeutic recommendations
- Develop and maintain high-quality clinical documentation, reports and outcome measures in line with professional and legislative requirements
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, service development, research activities and best-practice paediatric care

Qualification

In accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award

Registration

Must hold general registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia

Selection Criteria

1.



Demonstrated experience in providing paediatric occupational therapy services.
2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with families from different psychosocial, socio economic or CALD backgrounds.
3. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with early childhood education staff.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of evidence-based practice and commitment to professional development.
6. Demonstrated excellent time management and organisational skills.
7. Demonstrated ability to use a wide range of computer-based applications.
8. Current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to use for work purposes.
