About the role
Lead a team that helps deliver essential oral healthcare services to school-aged patients across Metro North. Based within the School Dental Service, this role combines hands-on clinical dental assisting with workforce leadership, operational coordination and service improvement, supporting the delivery of safe, efficient and patient-focused care across fixed clinics and mobile dental facilities. Working closely with Dental Officers, Oral Health Therapists, Dental Assistants and service leaders, you will play a key role in maintaining high clinical standards, supporting staff development and ensuring the smooth operation of dental services. Approximately 40-50% of the role involves clinical duties, providing the opportunity to remain actively engaged in patient care while contributing to broader service management responsibilities.
About you
- Provide high-level chairside assistance and clinical support across a broad range of oral health procedures and patient care activities.
- Lead, supervise and support Dental Assistants through workforce management, performance development, training and mentoring initiatives.
- Coordinate the operation of fixed clinics and dental vans, including maintenance, equipment management, stock control and service support activities.
- Monitor infection control, sterilisation,
radiography and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practice requirements.
- Work collaboratively with oral health clinicians, managers and stakeholders to support service delivery, workforce capability and achievement of operational objectives.
