The Opportunity
We are looking for a passionate litigator with 1 – 3 years PAEto join our general insurance team on a full time basis. As alawyer specialising in defendant institutional torts claims, youwill play a crucial role in providing legal support andrepresentation to our clients.
You Will be responsible for managing a variety of casesinvolving institutional torts allegations, working with defendantsand their legal teams to develop effective defence strategies andensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Manage a caseload of defendant institutional torts claimsfrom inception to resolution with adequate supervision.
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and preparevarious legal documents.
- Analyse complex legal issues, review case material, gatherevidence, and assess liability and damages.
- Collaborate with senior lawyers to develop and executedefence strategies.
- Attend negotiations, mediations, and courtproceedings.
- Provide ongoing legal advice and guidance to clientsthroughout the litigation process.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, ensuringcompliance with client service standards.
- Stay up to date of relevant legal developments and changesin legislation pertaining to institutional torts claims.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent and a current New SouthWales practising certificate.
- Minimum 1 years' post admission experience in generalinsurance matters.
- Strong knowledge of Australian tort law, civil procedure,and relevant legislation.
- Confidence to deal directly with clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as partof a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with experts in multiplefields.
- High degree of initiative, dedication and organisationability with a strong client and commercial focus.
- Ability to manage a busy workload and work to tightdeadlines.
- A commercial approach and ability to articulate andnegotiate effectively; and
