What you'll be doing
The primary focus of this position is to provide a comprehensive and specialist social work service to children, young people and their families with complex physical and cognitive disabilities requiring rehabilitation, with a focus on children and young people with cerebral palsy. This includes psychosocial assessments, specialist counselling, group work, psychoeducation and advocacy. The social worker works as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team.
The senior social worker is required to play a key role in service development and continuous quality improvement to ensure clinical needs of children and their families are met. The position takes a leadership role in the development and provision of education programs in the relevant specialty for both social workers and health professionals within SCHN and externally. The social worker also provides a consultative role within their specialisation to key stakeholders.
