Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Waste Administration Officer to join our team. This role is integral to the delivery of Council's Waste Services programs, including Waste, Recycling, FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics), and Public Litter services.

As part of Council's commitment to waste minimisation and increasing recycling rates within the community, you will provide high-quality administrative support, customer service, and coordination assistance to help achieve the objectives of Council's Waste Management Strategy.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Waste Services Coordinator, you will support the efficient delivery of waste management services through a combination of administration, customer service, data management, and stakeholder liaison activities. This diverse role offers the opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability initiatives while providing valuable support to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide administrative support for the operations of Council's Waste Services program.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and computerised waste service databases.
- Administer and manage Waste Services information systems and electronic records.
- Respond to customer enquiries relating to waste, recycling, FOGO, and public litter services.
- Assist in the management of kerbside recycling, refuse, and FOGO collection services.
- Liaise with Council's Planning and Building team regarding development applications, recent dwelling approvals, and occupancy notifications.
- Liaise with the Rates team regarding waste service charges, including supplementary and amended charges.




- Support the promotion of waste minimisation and recycling initiatives across the community.
- Assist the Waste Services Coordinator with kerbside waste audits, onsite inspections, investigations, and FOGO exemption assessments.

What you’ll bring:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Certificate III or IV in Business Administration, or equivalent experience within a relevant administrative or professional office environment.
- Knowledge of Local Government administration and waste management functions.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a small and collaborative team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with a diverse range of customers and stakeholders.
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using electronic records management systems and enterprise software, including TechnologyOne or similar systems.

Position details:

- Full-time, 76 hours per fortnight
- Annual salary- $75,469.10
