About the RoleOur client is seeking a motivated Legal Support Officer (LSO) to join their Legal Support Services team in Perth on a 6‑month temp contract.
Working closely with the Coordinator, Legal Support Services, you will provide high‑quality administrative and litigation support to legal practice groups in line with our client’s national service offer. This role is ideally suited to someone who thrives in a fast‑paced legal environment and enjoys working collaboratively to support complex and high‑profile matters.
You will operate under general direction, using contemporary legal practice systems and digital litigation tools to support the preparation, management and presentation of legal cases. ****Key Responsibilities
As a Legal Support Officer, your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and administering legal case files, including data entry, records management, filing, photocopying and document control
- Drafting routine correspondence and emails using established templates
- Coordinating witnesses, including drafting summonses and subpoenas, arranging travel and managing court‑related logistics
- Preparing court materials, lodging and filing documentation, and undertaking deliveries and collections
- Conducting basic research activities and resolving general queries using established procedures
- Arranging video conferencing, interpreters and translators
- Liaising with Federal Prosecutors, counsel, courts and external agencies
- Managing competing priorities to meet deadlines while delivering timely, high‑quality outcomes
- Contributing to a positive team culture and broader organisational objectives
Skills, Experience and Attributes We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- Experience or aptitude in delivering a broad range of administrative support services within a government and/or legal environment
- The ability to apply judgement and provide advice using established systems and procedures
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Sound oral and written communication skills
- Research and analysis skills, with the ability to resolve issues based on available information
- A flexible, adaptable and positive approach to change
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive working relationships
- A collaborative working style, personal drive, initiative and integrity
Qualifications and Special Requirements To be successful in this role, you must:
- Be an Australian Citizen
- Hold or be able to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance
- Demonstrate suitability for work in a Commonwealth legal environment
