Blacktown City Council

Blacktown

Work that matters, done with people who care.

Across Blacktown City’s parks, streets and open spaces, our tree canopy helps create safer, greener and more liveable neighbourhoods. As an Arborist, you carry out tree maintenance and planting work that supports the health, safety and appearance of the city while helping to mentor apprentices in practical arboriculture skills.

You work as part of a team that takes pride in doing the job properly. Day to day, you climb and prune trees, carry out rigging and removals, operate chippers and stump grinders, undertake aerial tree work using ropes and harnesses, and use elevated work platforms when required. You inspect trees, report defects, maintain equipment and assist with tree planting and establishment across parks and streets.

Every task has a clear purpose. Your work helps keep public spaces secure and accessible, supports the long-term health of Council’s trees and contributes to attractive streetscapes and open spaces that residents use every day.

We offer stable employment with practical benefits and opportunities to build your skills. Through ongoing training, additional certifications and leadership opportunities, we support your professional growth and career development.

If you are a qualified climbing arborist with experience in tree maintenance, climbing and rigging,

and enjoy practical outdoor work that makes a visible difference in the community, we would love to hear from you.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
