About the role:

J&M; Asphalt Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Asphalt & Civil Estimator to join our growing team in Hazelmere, Western Australia. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in our business while we are expanding in the Perth metro area.

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for various asphalt and civil projects, ensuring our bids are competitive whilst maintaining profitability.

Your expertise will directly influence our industry success and business growth, making this a strategically important position within our organisation.

Key responsibilities:

- Conducting site visits with clients, recording key information and project scope requirements.
- Analysing project specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.
- Liaising with the Operations Manager when jobs are accepted and need to be scheduled in.
- Obtaining and comparing quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
- Utilising estimating software and tools to calculate project costs efficiently and accurately.
- Maintaining and updating cost databases and historical project profit/loss for future reference.
- Preparing tender documentation and presenting estimates to clients as required.
- Identifying potential cost savings and added value opportunities within projects.
- Collaborating with the Operations Manager to refine estimating methods and improve accuracy.

What we're looking for:

- Proven experience working as an Estimator within the asphalt & construction industry, ideally 3+ years in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods,



material and labour costs related to surfacing projects.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors and suppliers.
- Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple quotes simultaneously.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of relevant construction codes, standards and regulations in Western Australia would be advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to visit multiple sites per day.
