Role Description This full-time, on-site role as a 1st Year Automotive Light Vehicle Mechanic is based in Mornington, VIC. The position involves assisting with routine servicing, inspections, and repairs on a variety of light vehicles under the supervision of qualified technicians.
Daily tasks include performing basic mechanical work such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and brake checks, as well as learning to diagnose faults using tools and diagnostic equipment.
The role also includes maintaining a clean and safe workshop environment, following workplace health and safety procedures, and accurately documenting work performed. As an apprentice, the successful candidate will attend structured training, develop technical skills, and progress through their qualification while contributing to the workshop team.
Qualifications
- Interest in automotive mechanics and a genuine desire to build a career in the light vehicle industry.
- Basic mechanical aptitude, including familiarity with hand tools and willingness to learn vehicle servicing and repair techniques.
- Ability to follow instructions, work safely, and adhere to workshop procedures and safety standards.
- Solid work ethic, reliability, and capacity to work full time in an on-site workshop environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work cooperatively within a diverse team.
- Completion of secondary schooling or equivalent; pre-apprenticeship in automotive or related field is an advantage.
- Willingness to undertake formal training through a Registered Training Organisation and keep up with coursework requirements.
- Current driver’s license or progress toward obtaining one is highly beneficial.
