3PL Logistics Manager
Canberra based | Full time | Leadership role
MB Logistics is seeking an experienced and safety-focused 3PL Logistics Manager to lead the delivery of warehousing, inventory and transport services for a significant long-term project based in Canberra.
This key leadership position is responsible for establishing and managing safe, compliant and efficient logistics operations. The successful candidate will lead a dedicated project team and work closely with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure services are delivered safely, accurately and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the project's warehousing, inventory and transport activities.
- Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure all personnel follow WHS policies, safe work procedures and site requirements.
- Conduct and oversee pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, safety inspections and incident investigations.
- Ensure hazards, incidents and near misses are promptly reported, investigated and appropriately closed out.
- Monitor compliance with Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, load restraint and vehicle safety obligations.
- Manage warehouse receipting, storage, stock control, order picking, dispatch and delivery activities.
- Coordinate scheduled movements of materials between locations.
- Ensure accurate inventory records and effective use of the Warehouse Management System, CartonCloud.
- Monitor performance against agreed KPIs, including stock accuracy, receipting times, pick accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Lead, support and develop warehouse, inventory, forklift and transport personnel.
- Coordinate employee inductions, training, competency assessments and ongoing compliance requirements.
- Manage daily workloads, staff allocations, leave coverage and additional resource requirements.
- Maintain accurate operational, safety, training,
maintenance and compliance records.
- Prepare regular performance reports and communicate operational risks, delays or issues to key stakeholders.
- Promote continuous improvement across safety, service delivery, systems and operational processes.
- Ensure vehicles, forklifts, equipment and facilities are properly inspected, maintained and used safely.
About You
- Demonstrated experience managing 3PL, warehousing, transport or complex logistics operations.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and practical experience leading workplace safety and compliance.
- Proven experience supervising and developing operational teams.
- A proactive approach to identifying hazards, managing risks and improving safety performance.
- Experience with inventory control, warehouse management systems and operational reporting.
- Strong planning, organisation, problem-solving and communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal teams.
- Solid attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
- A current Australian driver licence.
- A forklift licence or experience managing forklift operations would be advantageous.
- Experience and knowledge in the use of CartonCloud would be an advantage.
- Relevant qualifications in logistics, supply chain, transport, warehousing, WHS or management would be highly regarded.

Due to the nature of the project, the successful candidate must:
- Be an Australian citizen.
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.
- Satisfy all required background, identity, employment and security checks.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding project, client and operational information.
- Complete all required workplace, site and safety inductions before commencing relevant duties.
Employment will be subject to the successful completion of all required pre-employment and security screening.
