Zitron Australia Pty Ltd is a growing, ventilation fan manufacturing company, supplying industrial fan units to the mining and road tunnel sector, based in Perth and Sydney.
An exciting chance exists for an experienced Accountant to join the fast-growing Australian arm of an international group that is a global leader in the field of ventilation for underground mines, road and railway tunnels, and metro systems.
The company is part of a group that operates in over 80 countries on 5 continents. In Australia, the company has supplied the ventilation required for the construction and long-term operation of many of the nation’s major underground transport infrastructure projects.
The Position:
The primary purpose of this role is to support the Financial Controller, by maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records and supporting the financial management of our projects and operations. You will be responsible for a broad range of accounting and reporting activities, including financial accounting, project accounting, management reporting, compliance, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Manage day-to-day financial accounting functions, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and properly supported.
- Oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, review reconciliations and financial transactions, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of information recorded in the accounting system.
- Manage bank, supplier, customer and general ledger reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare month-end and year-end accounts,
including journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
- Project accounting and financial management, including project costs, revenue recognition, purchase orders, variations, progress claims and customer invoicing.
- Review project financial performance and assist with monitoring budgets, committed costs, actual expenditure and profitability.
- Coordinate with project managers and operational teams to ensure financial information is accurate, complete and submitted within required deadlines.
- Prepare budget, financial forecasts, variance analysis and facilitate management reporting.
- Manage the preparation of Business Activity Statements
- Prepare Income Tax Reports including International Dealings Schedule and ensure Australian statutory compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure appropriate documentation and financial controls are in place.
- Lead internal and external audits and provide supporting documentation as required.
- Support the ongoing development and improvement of accounting processes, systems and internal controls.
- Work with ERP Infor Syteline to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial processes.
- Provide financial and accounting support to management and other departments as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
We are looking for an Accountant who combines strong technical accounting skills with commercial awareness, initiative and attention to detail.
To be successful in this role,
you will need:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification or progress towards CPA/CA is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting position.
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles, GST and BAS requirements.
- Solid reconciliation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict reporting and project deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to work independently and collaborate effectively with project, operations and management teams.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with Infor Syteline or other ERP systems.
Things that would be good but not necessary:
- Project accounting within engineering, construction, manufacturing or similar industries.
- Experience on Progress claims, contract invoices, variations and project cost monitoring.
- Knowledge of Infor Syteline or similar ERP systems.
- Working within a multi-entity or international business setting.

The role on offer is based in Hope Valley, south of Perth, and the commitment and passion to drive innovation that you will bring to it will be rewarded with a commensurate remuneration package in the range of $90,000-$100,000 + Super.

Work hours
Monday to Thursdays: 9am to 5:30pm
Fridays: 9am to 3:30pm
