Forster & Mayo Private Hospitals are a part of the Healthe Care Group. The hospitals are located on the beautiful Mid North Coast of NSW, Forster / Tuncurry and Taree. The Mid North Coast is close to beautiful uncrowded beaches, untouched national parks, nature reserves, the gorgeous Wallis Lake and Manning River. The hospitals are approximately 30-40 mins drive from each other. This is a great opportunity to further your career in one of the most scenic areas of New South Wales. This is a 6-month position and has accreditation with the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. There would be consideration for permanent employment and continued training on completion of placement. Rehabilitation medicine is a major focus of the hospital and is delivered through an Inpatient Unit in Forster and Mayo with outpatient departments incorporating a modern purpose-built gymnasium, hydrotherapy pool, therapy garden and a very experienced multi-disciplinary team which includes resident medical cover at both sites. There are currently 2 FTE AFRM recognised rehabilitation registrar hours across our two hospitals,
with 1 FTE available. The case mix includes geriatric rehabilitation, orthopaedic rehabilitation, neuro as well as multi trauma, TBI, Cancer rehab, cardiac and pulmonary rehab, amputee and reconditioning.
The hospitals are supported by four (2) Rehabilitation Physicians and one (1) Geriatrician.
Essential Criteria:
- Current registration with APHRA
- Enrolled or eligible to enrol as a Trainee with AFRM
- Site specific provider number
- Experience in participating in consults, case conferences, family conferences and liaise with acute teams
- Demonstrated experience in clinical education, teaching medical undergraduate and Allied Health
- Sound computer literacy in desktop applications and patient management systems
- Strong leadership and collaborative interpersonal communication skills with well-developed verbal and written communication skills
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in Rehabilitation
- Ability to be on-call approx. one night per week, and one weekend per month as a CMO
Remuneration packages include a base salary, dependent on seniority, with scope for additional income. Up to 1 FTE AFRM RACP recognised rehabilitation registrar hours available. Applications: Close 9 October 2026.
