About the role
At Pines Living, we are committed to providing person-centred care that supports each resident's dignity, independence, wellbeing, and individual goals. As an Assistant Physiotherapist, you will under the delegation of our Physiotherapist and clinical care team to support residents with their mobility, strength, balance, physical function, and reablement goals. You will play an significant role in implementing individualised exercise and mobility programs, supporting falls prevention strategies, and encouraging residents to maintain their independence and quality of life.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Physiotherapist with the delivery of individualised exercise, mobility, and reablement programs
- Support residents with strengthening, balance, mobility, and functional exercises
- Encourage residents to participate in their prescribed exercise and mobility programs
- Assist with mobility assessments and monitoring of residents' functional abilities under the direction of the Physiotherapist
- Support falls prevention strategies and promote safe mobility throughout the facility
- Assist residents with safe transfers, walking, and use of mobility aids as directed
- Monitor and report changes in residents' mobility, pain, balance, strength,
or functional status to the Physiotherapist and Registered Nurses
- Assist with the safe use, cleaning, storage, and maintenance of physiotherapy and mobility equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation relating to exercise and mobility programs
- Work collaboratively with Registered Nurses, Care Managers, Personal Care Workers, Leisure and Lifestyle staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team
About you
- Relevant qualification in Physiotherapy Assistance, Allied Health Assistance, Exercise and Sports Science, or a related field
- Experience working with older people, preferably within Residential Aged Care
- Understanding of mobility, exercise, strengthening, balance, and falls prevention principles
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to working with older people
- Ability to encourage and motivate residents to participate in physical activity and exercise programs
- Strong commitment to resident dignity, choice, independence, and wellbeing
- Good organisational and documentation skills
- Ability to follow clinical directions and work within the scope of the role
