John XXIII College is seeking an experienced, visionary and collaborative Assistant Principal (Primary) to join our community.

About the role The Assistant Principal (Primary) is a member of the Primary Leadership Team, working closely with the Head of Primary to advance the College’s mission, strategic priorities and educational vision. The role is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of key policies, practices and processes for students from Pre-Kindy to Year 6.

Key responsibilities

- Model the College’s Catholic, Ignatian values in teaching and leadership.
- Work in close partnership with the Head of Primary in the provision of high quality academic programs and pastoral care for students in Pre-Kindy to Year 6.
- Model reflective practice and ongoing professional learning, contributing to a culture of service and continuous improvement Work with Primary staff to ensure continuity of learning, effective teaching and strong student outcomes across the Primary years.
- Facilitate the delivery of Professional Learning Community (PLCs) to drive alignment between curriculum, pedagogy wellbeing and operational practice.
- Demonstrate a holistic pastoral and pedagogical vision for the education of Primary students.
- Lead teachers in the establishment and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs suitable for Primary Students.

Selection Criteria





- Commitment to the Church's mission in Catholic Education and model the Catholic and Ignatian ethos and traditions of the College.
- Work in a collaborative manner as part of a committed Primary leadership Team.
- Excellent teacher, mentor and leader by modelling valuable practice and providing constructive feedback.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively and build positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and the wider community.
- Experience in data collection and analysis at a student, class, and whole school level with the ability to lead staff in the interpretation of data.
- Excellent organisational skills and effective in meeting a variety of administrative requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current education practices and research and confidence to lead staff in educational change, curriculum development and professional learning.
- Experience leading curriculum improvement, particularly in Numeracy and Literacy, using evidence based practices.
- Expertise leading Professional Learning Communities that promote collaboration, accountability and student achievement.
- • Highly competent ICT skills including the use of SEQTA.
