Assistant Venue Manager, Running With Thieves - Port Hedland

Overlooking the Ocean Channel and Spoilbank Marina, Running With Thieves, Port Hedland, is opening our doors soon.

Our Vision is to create a welcoming, up-to-date coastal venue that reflects the rhythm of life in the Northwest — relaxed, genuine, and built around community connection. We see a dynamic, family-inclusive venue that captures Hedland’s coastal character, a destination that locals call home and visitors can’t stop talking about. Our venue will evolve throughout the day, offering breakfast and coffee for early risers, casual dining for families and workers, and a lively bar and events atmosphere as the sun sets over the Marina.

With multiple kitchens, bars, function spaces, family friendly areas including a playground, RWT will have something for everyone. The venue will showcase local Pilbara and Western Australian produce, RWT craft beers, and seasonal menus suited to the climate and coastal lifestyle.

Assistant Venue Manager

As we approach our opening, we are ready to appoint an Assistant Venue Manager to assist our Venue Manager with the opening of this iconic venue.

Initially, you'll assist the Venue Manager with the preparation of opening the venue. This will include assisting with the recruitment and training of our new team.

Once we up are running, you will assist the Venue Manager with the day-to-day running of the operations, including, but not limited to:





- Ensuring the efficient management of the venue to control costs including wages, COGS, wastage etc
- Recruitment, rostering and timesheet approvals (we currently use TANDA)
- Hands on operational oversight, leading by example to train, develop and manage a diverse team of staff members to provide excellent customer service
- Driving continuous improvement of the customer experience.
- Ensuring we are meeting our legislative requirements including RSA, Health and Safety and Employment conditions

Key Requirements

- Proven experience in hospitality management, preferably in a large brewery, bar, or restaurant setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage the performance of a diverse team
- Pragmatic approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Approved Manager (unrestricted) Red Card
- Experience working in a country/rural location is an advantage
