Abbeys Auctions has provided expert public auctions, valuations, and property clearance services since 1969. We have two openings for energetic and talented people to join our team as Auction Assistants working across our key categories of Furniture, Antiques, Art & Collectables.

Abbeys has the busiest online and live auction program in Victoria, specialising in whole house contents clearances and deceased estates. That means that the products we manage are wide and varied. For the right person, this is a really interesting environment to work in. With multiple auctions every week, there's never a dull moment, and each day brings different tasks and interesting new arrivals of customers and items to be sold.

To be suited to this role, you will have curiosity and an enquiring mind, and you'll enjoy handling new and unusual objects each day.

This role is full-time, working within a small team of talented product professionals with diverse specialist skills and experience.

Duties will include

- Unpacking, assessing and cataloguing items for auction to ensure they are correctly identified, described & the right auction values are estimated
- Production of auction lots to meet a demanding publication schedule, including setting up floor displays and cabinets
- Providing expert knowledge to customers and other team members
- Participating in valuation appointments and online valuation enquiries

To apply for this role, you will need these skills and prior experience....

- Experience managing stock in a large format retail environment, or, working hands-on with vintage or antique objects




- Deep interest in or knowledge of one or more product categories, in particular antiques, fine art, vintage and retro collectables and furniture.
- A good working understanding of an auction house or online trading workplace is not essential, but will be considered as an added advantage

Remuneration and conditions will be in line with the General Retail Industry Award. An appropriate salary package will be developed based on applicant's skills and experience.
