Qualified Motor Mechanic / Licensed Roadworthy Tester

Full-Time | Permanent Position

Northside Fleet Services is looking for an experienced Qualified Motor Mechanic who holds a CURRENT Victorian Roadworthy Tester Licence to join our growing team in Preston.

We are an established, family-operated mechanical workshop servicing private, commercial and fleet vehicles. We pride ourselves on quality workmanship, honest service and creating a workshop environment where experienced mechanics are trusted and valued.

- Be a fully qualified Motor Mechanic
- Hold a CURRENT Victorian Roadworthy Tester Licence
- Have valid working rights in Australia
- Hold a current Australian Driver Licence

We are unable to offer employer or visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already have valid working rights in Australia. If you do not currently hold a Victorian Roadworthy Tester Licence, unfortunately you will not be suitable for this particular position.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include

- Conducting Victorian Roadworthy Certificate inspections in accordance with current requirements
- Logbook servicing and general vehicle servicing
- Mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Brake, suspension and steering repairs
- General engine and driveline repairs
- Inspecting vehicles and identifying safety or mechanical concerns
- Servicing and maintaining private, commercial and fleet vehicles
- Using diagnostic equipment and scan tools
- Accurately documenting inspections, repairs and work performed
- Communicating additional repair requirements to workshop management




- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area
- Following workshop procedures, OH&S; requirements and Roadworthy compliance obligations
- Assisting other members of the workshop team when required

- Communicates clearly when additional faults or repairs are identified
- Takes responsibility for the quality of their work
- Treats customers, vehicles and fellow staff with respect
- Has a positive attitude and is willing to contribute to the workshop
- Is interested in reliable, long-term employment

Essential Requirements

MUST HAVE:

- Australian-recognised Motor Mechanic qualification
- Current Victorian Roadworthy Tester Licence
- Current legal working rights in Australia
- Current Australian Driver Licence
- Previous hands-on mechanical workshop experience
- Strong servicing, repair and fault-finding abilities
- Good knowledge of workshop safety and compliance

- Fleet vehicle servicing and maintenance experience
- Commercial vehicle experience
- Strong diagnostic and electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience with a wide variety of vehicle makes and models
- Air-conditioning accreditation/experience
- Heavy vehicle experience or additional testing licences
- EV or hybrid vehicle training
- Experience mentoring or assisting apprentices
- Experience using workshop management software
- Strong computer and administrative skills relating to vehicle inspections and job records
