The Opportunity:

- We are currently seeking enthusiastic and energetic Backgrounding Livestock Hands to facilitate our pasture operations.
- You will perform daily operations related to cattle husbandry, including conducting regular paddock checks to monitor animal health and observations of grazing management. Additionally, maintaining infrastructure, such as fencing and watering systems.
- You’ll work a 50-hour week on a 5:2 roster.
- These roles would suit self-motivated people who are hands on and passionate about the agriculture industry. You will have a solid work ethic and be willing to learn and contribute to the team.

Properties: About New Norcia and Koojan Downs Farms:

- New Norcia Farm is a premium 8,090 hectare farm fronting the Moore River, 135kms north of Perth and 45 kms east of Koojan Downs Feeding Facility.
- The Koojan Downs aggregation is made up of Koojan Downs, Water Hill, Damper Downs,



Avena Vale, Corner block, Willow Springs, Danmoor and Swarts farms. It comprises 10,472 hectares.

Please note:

- These are permanent positions, those on short term/working holiday visas will not be considered.
- You will need to have a current driver’s licence and own transport.

Responsibilities include:

- Daily paddock checks.
- Carry out horse and cattle husbandry practices, fencing, machinery and general property maintenance skills.
- Mustering and cattle processing.
- Induction of livestock into backgrounding, following correct induction management procedures and relevant livestock work instructions.
- Unloading, loading, scanning, drafting and weighing of cattle.
- All aspects of cattle and horse husbandry use low-stress stock handling techniques and prioritise animal welfare, including their handling and veterinary treatments.
- Ensuring water troughs are maintained at all times.
- Other duties as required.

Ideal skillset:

- Positive horse-riding skills along with basic level horsemanship.
- Previous experience of working in an intensive livestock handling operation preferred.
- Must have a current manual driver’s licence and own transport.
- Basic computer skills.
- An ability to record information and effectively communicate within the workplace.
- Able to work autonomously or as part of a team.




- Constantly demonstrate commitment to safe working practices and animal welfare.
- Physically fit to meet the inherent requirements of the role, including manual handling tasks.
- Agricultural knowledge and cattle handling experience is desirable.
- Motivated and hard-working, willing to contribute to the Harvest Road team culture.
- Attention to detail.
- Successful applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment medical examination and criminal record check.
