About the role The successful applicant will undertake practical cattle husbandry, livestock monitoring, pasture management, machinery operation and general property-maintenance duties on a full time, permanent basis at Green Acres Farm, a mixed farming enterprise based in Tully, Queensland.

Key responsibilities

- Feed, water and regularly monitor beef cattle to maintain appropriate nutrition, health and welfare.

- Conduct daily livestock inspections and promptly report signs of illness, injury, disease, poor condition or abnormal behaviour.

- Muster, herd, draft, weigh, tag, load, unload and move cattle between paddocks, yards and other locations.

- Assist with breeding programs, calving, care of young livestock, parasite control, vaccination and other routine animal-health activities under appropriate supervision.

- Implement livestock feeding and welfare programs, including checking feed supplies, water quality, troughs, tanks and pumps.

- Establish and maintain pastures and fodder crops, including undertaking weed control and pasture-improvement activities.

- Prepare cattle for transport and sale to livestock markets, processors or other properties.

- Operate tractors, ATVs, mowers, irrigation equipment and other agricultural machinery safely and according to operating procedures.

- Inspect, repair and maintain cattle yards, fences, gates, water systems, feeding equipment and other farm infrastructure.

- Maintain accurate records of livestock movements, feeding, treatments, health observations, mortalities and other farm activities.

About you

- An AQF Certificate II or III in Agriculture, Animal Studies or a related field,



or an equivalent overseas qualification; or at least two years of relevant full-time experience in beef cattle farming, livestock production or animal husbandry.

- Practical experience in beef cattle husbandry and safe livestock handling.

- Knowledge of cattle feeding, grazing management, animal health and welfare.

- Experience with livestock mustering, drafting, loading and transportation.

- Experience in pasture and general property management.

- Ability to operate and undertake basic maintenance of tractors and other agricultural machinery.

- Knowledge of workplace health and safety, animal-welfare and biosecurity requirements.

- Physical fitness and ability to undertake manual outdoor work in variable weather conditions.

- Positive communication, teamwork, record-keeping and organisational skills.

- Reliability, a strong work ethic and the ability to work with limited supervision.
