Building Maintenance Officer / Handyman – Permanent Full-Time

Are you an experienced, hands-on skilled who takes pride in maintaining safe and welcoming environments? Bright Beginnings Learning Centres is searching for a Building Maintenance Officer/Handyman to join our growing team in a permanent full-time capacity. In this versatile role, you’ll oversee the upkeep of our dynamic childcare and learning facilities across Sydney’s south and western suburbs, ensuring they remain vibrant and functional for our children, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

- General Building Maintenance & Repairs

Handle day-to-day maintenance tasks, including minor carpentry, plaster patching, and paint touch-ups

- Painting & Patchwork

Undertake painting projects, from spot fixes to larger-scale refreshes, ensuring smooth and even finishes

- Garden & Outdoor Maintenance

Maintain gardens and outdoor learning areas, contributing to inspiring spaces for children to play, explore, and learn

- Multi-Site Travel

Travel between multiple centres to provide maintenance support, ensuring each location is consistently safe and functional

- Health & Safety Compliance

Work within established guidelines and regulatory requirements to keep our facilities compliant and hazard-free

Essential Requirements

- Proven Handyman/Maintenance Experience

Skills such as building repairs, pressure cleaning driveways, patching, and painting

- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence & Reliable Vehicle

Willingness and ability to travel between sites, carrying tools and materials

- Professional Tools

Own set of suitable tools and equipment for general maintenance and repair work

- Working With Children Check





(Or willingness to obtain) – we’re dedicated to providing a safe environment for children

- Strong Problem-Solving Skills

Confidence in identifying issues, troubleshooting, and implementing effective solutions

- Independence & Flexibility

Ability to plan your daily schedule and manage multiple tasks across various locations, and available o work weekends as required.

Desirable Skills

- Childcare or Educational Setting Experience

Familiarity with the unique demands of working in environments tailored for children’s learning and play

- Commercial Maintenance Background

Understanding of professional building management standards

- Basic Plumbing & Electrical Knowledge

Advantageous for tackling diverse tasks swiftly and efficiently
