Salary Range: $74,620 per annum + super

About The Role

Townsville City Council is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Bulk Water Ganger to join our Water Operations team. In this hands-on leadership role, you will play a critical part in the operation, maintenance, and reliability of Council's bulk water network, helping ensure the continued delivery of secure and reliable water services to the community.

Reporting to the Team Leader Water Operations, you will coordinate and lead field crews undertaking planned maintenance, operational activities, inspections, and emergency repairs across Council's bulk water infrastructure. This includes pipelines, valves, chambers, and associated assets. You will be responsible for directing work on-site, providing technical guidance to team members, and ensuring all activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Council standards.

This varied role combines leadership, practical field work, fault finding, and problem solving. You will take an active role in responding to bulk water network incidents, including water main failures and other operational emergencies, while contributing to the ongoing performance and integrity of Council's water assets. Participation in an on-call roster and after-hours work is required to support the delivery of essential water services.

Qualifications And Experience

You are an experienced water industry professional with a strong understanding of bulk water infrastructure, network maintenance, and operational activities. You enjoy leading crews in the field and are committed to delivering safe,



high-quality outcomes while maintaining reliable water services for the community.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have:

- Experience maintaining and repairing bulk water infrastructure.
- Experience leading field crews and coordinating works.
- Knowledge of water network operations and maintenance.
- Strong safety focus and commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to read plans and utilise GIS systems.
- Effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Current C Class and MR Driver Licences.
- White Card and Confined Space Entry certification.
