Are you passionate about helping young people discover their future pathways and achieve their career aspirations?

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Career Practitioner to provide comprehensive career development services to Senior School students, families, and the wider Senior School community. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by guiding students through subject selection, tertiary education planning, employment pathways, and post-school opportunities.

This is a permanent, part-time (26.25 hours per week) opportunity commencing in January (Term 1), 2027.

The role:

Reporting to the Head of Senior School the Career Practitioner plays a pivotal role in preparing students for life beyond school through personalised career counselling, career education programs, and pathway planning.

Key responsibilities include

- Providing individual career and course counselling to students and parents.




- Delivering career development programs for students in Years 10 to 12.
- Supporting students in subject selection and post-school pathway planning.
- Advising on tertiary education options, including university, TAFE, scholarships, accommodation, fee structures, and admission requirements such as VTAC and UCAT.
- Conducting career information sessions and parent education events.
- Assisting students with resume writing, cover letters and interview preparation.
- Supporting and coordinating work placements where appropriate.
- Participating in Change of Preference counselling.
- Maintaining effective student records and career planning documentation.
- Supporting careers events, information nights and destination survey initiatives.
- Managing and expanding the Year 10 Work Experience Program, including employer engagement, student applications, communications and administration.

What do I need to succeed?

- A minimum entry-level qualification recognised under the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners.
- Knowledge of the CEAV Code of Ethics and professional career development practices.
- Strong knowledge of VCE, VCE - VET, and IB pathway options.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to build trusted relationships with students, parents,



staff and external organisations.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working with young people and supporting diverse learning and career development needs

A valid Employee Working with Children Check or Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration is a requirement of this position. Our commitment to Child Safety:
